History of PLG
The University of Nebraska has an Honors residence hall divided into four sections for the purpose of confusing people who don't live there. One of the four sections of this hall is named Piper. Piper is shaped like an L. The only way in or out is at the end of the long side (the top of the L), so traffic is greatly reduced in the short end. Neihardt is home to perhaps 400 of NU's best and brightest, most of whom fail to realize that Piper is an L and there are people down here.
Due to their relative anonymity and isolation, several residents of the short end of the L banded together in an attempt to prove to the world--or at least the rest of Piper 1--that they exist. (Note: To save time, at least for now, it was assumed that we do, in fact, exist. We know this is only a theory and will announce our conclusions as to its validity as soon as our research is complete.)
One method of attracting attention to their existence was the floor elections. Out of perhaps 36 residents of Piper 1, the eight ghetto founders won half of the elected positions between them. Liz is treasurer, Sarah is secretary, Paula is social chair and intramural chair, Megan is birthday chair, and Erin is bathroom questions chair.
Other attempts at pronouncing existence will not be fully discussed here, in an attempt to protect both the guilty and the innocent.
Morgan would like to be credited with naming it "the ghetto." However, this has recently been debated, so we are asking that anyone with any evidence as to the origin of the name come forward immediately.
